Cabcharge Taxi Melbourne

Accepted on every booking. Tell us when you book and the driver will have it ready.

Check your fixed fare first

The short answer

Cabcharge

ME CABS accepts Cabcharge on every booking. Tell us at the time of booking and the driver will process it at the end of the trip. Cabcharge takes care of how the fare is paid; we take care of the trip itself — a pre-booked, licensed driver and a fixed fare agreed before you travel, across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Cabcharge decides how the fare is paid. We decide who turns up, in what, and when.
A business can have excellent payment arrangements and still have staff standing on a kerb at 6am. Those are two separate problems — this page separates them.
Plain English

What Cabcharge actually is.

Written for someone who has never used it — or has just been handed a card and told to sort out staff taxis.

What it is
A non-cash payment system for taxi fares, established in 1976. It lets a business pay for taxi travel without staff handling cash or claiming expenses.
Who runs it
A2B Australia — formerly Cabcharge Australia — which is part of the ComfortDelGro group.
How it works
Your organisation holds a Cabcharge account. Staff or clients travel using a card, a digital pass or a ticket. Fares are charged to the account and billed back to the organisation, rather than paid at the kerb.
Why businesses use it
One line of credit that works in taxis across the country, no expense claims, no reimbursements, and a central record of who travelled where.
What it is not
It is not a taxi company and not a booking service. It is a way of paying. The trip still has to be booked with, and provided by, an operator — which is where we come in.
The products

Six Cabcharge products, and what each one is for.

Most readers only need one of these. Tell us which one you have when you book, and we'll confirm it before the trip.

  • FASTCARD

A card for frequent travellers, available physically or digitally. Trips record to the account in real time, with automated cost coding and no end-of-month paperwork.

    Best for

Staff who travel often — the standard corporate option.

  • Digital Pass

A single-use pass issued to a phone, with a fare limit and expiry date you set before it's used. Shows drop-off time and place.

    Best for

One-off trips: a candidate to an interview, a client to a meeting.

  • eTicket

A single-use ticket a business issues to staff or clients.

    Best for

Occasional travel where a physical ticket suits better than an app.

  • Community Card

A multi-use, personalised card issued per client, with weekly spend reports, alerts and automated receipts.

    Best for

NDIS and non-NDIS clients, community care transport, care providers and home care.

  • Gift Card

Prepaid — load an amount and use it until it's spent. Does not require a Cabcharge account.

    Best for

Capped or restricted travel budgets: airport pick-ups, a late-night allowance.

  • Cabcharge+

The online portal included with every account — travel requests, trip tracking, cost centres, multi-user access and exportable reports.

    Best for

Whoever has to reconcile it all. Usually finance.

NDIS & community care

A card handles the billing. It doesn’t handle who’s driving.

Cabcharge’s Community Card is built for NDIS and non-NDIS clients, community care and home care — per-client cards with weekly spend reports, alerts and automated receipts. It solves the billing well. This is the segment where the payment method matters least and the operator matters most.

Wheelchair accessible transport

What a care coordinator actually needs

  • 01

    The same drivers, repeatedly.

For a client with a disability, cognitive impairment or anxiety, an unfamiliar driver every trip is not a neutral detail.

  • 02

Wheelchair accessible vehicles that are genuinely available

Booked and held — not requested and hoped for.

  • 03

Appointments that are met on time

A missed specialist appointment is rebooked in weeks, not hours.

  • 04

    Clean reporting

That reconciles against a plan or a funding line without manual work.

  • 05

    MPTP handled correctly.

Members receive 50% off the total fare, up to a $60 subsidy per trip, applied at payment.

How to pay

Paying by Cabcharge with us, in four steps.

  1. 01

    Tell us when you book.

Say you'll be paying by Cabcharge so the driver is set up before they arrive.

  2. 02

Have the card, pass or ticket ready.

Digital passes live on the phone; cards and eTickets are physical.

  3. 03

The driver processes it at the end of the trip,

    on the vehicle's payment terminal.

  4. 04

    Keep the receipt.

The trip also records to your Cabcharge account, and appears in Cabcharge+ for whoever reconciles it.

Why ME CABS

A fixed fare, a licensed driver, and Cabcharge at the end of the trip.

Why book your Cabcharge trips with us

  • Licensed commercial passenger vehicle operator with a fixed-fare promise — the fare you see is the fare you pay, agreed before the trip.
  • Cabcharge accepted on every booking, and MPTP recognised.
  • Melbourne and regional Victoria covered by one operator — from a Melbourne Airport run to a Geelong client visit.
  • Accessible and group vehicles booked in advance.

Why not rideshare for business travel

  • Surge pricing makes a travel budget unforecastable, which is the one thing finance cannot work with.
  • No MPTP, no accessible vehicle on demand, no guarantee of who turns up.
  • Expense reconciliation lands back on the traveller — exactly the problem Cabcharge was invented to remove.

Does ME CABS accept Cabcharge?

Yes, on every booking. Tell us when you book so the driver has it ready, and they'll process it at the end of the trip.

What is Cabcharge?

A non-cash payment system for taxi fares, running since 1976 and now part of the ComfortDelGro group through A2B Australia. Your organisation holds an account, staff or clients travel on a card, pass or ticket, and the fares are billed back to the organisation instead of paid at the kerb. It's a way of paying — the trip itself is still booked with and provided by an operator.

Do I need a Cabcharge account to use it?

For FASTCARD, Digital Pass and Community Card, yes — those are issued against a business account. The prepaid Gift Card doesn't require one.

Can we use Cabcharge for NDIS or aged-care client travel?

Cabcharge offers a Community Card aimed at NDIS and non-NDIS clients, community care and home care, with per-client cards and weekly reporting. It handles the billing well. What it doesn't handle is consistency of driver, guaranteed accessible vehicles or on-time arrival at appointments — which is where the operator matters. Talk to us about your clients' travel.

Do you accept MPTP as well?

Yes. MPTP members receive 50% off the total fare, up to a $60 subsidy per trip, applied at payment.
