Why Heathmont

The quiet one — a leafy orchard-heritage village.

Heathmont was once hedge-to-hedge apple orchards — the name comes from the heath on its rising ground — and it still feels like a village. Around 10,000 people in just 4.5 km², a small shopping strip of cafés and an IGA opposite the station, and views to Mount Dandenong down the high street that locals say give it an almost Californian light.

It’s an affluent, family suburb — strong schools and a serious sports hub at HE Parker Reserve and The Nets. A place like that runs on personal trips: an early flight, a hospital visit, the kids’ sport, a day up in the Ranges, a quiet night out on the strip. ME CABS is the calm, fixed-fare way to do every one of them, door to door.

The little station

Lovely for the commute. Here’s what it can’t do.

Heathmont Station, opened in 1926, sits right in the heart of the village on the Belgrave line. It’s a single line, ground-level and unstaffed, with about 135 parking spaces. For a relaxed city commute it’s genuinely lovely — but a small unstaffed station, one line, limited parking is exactly where the train stops being the right tool.

The early flight with luggage.

Before trains start, with a change at Flinders Street dragging bags.

The hospital trip to Maroondah Hospital.

For someone who can't manage platforms and stairs — door to door instead.

The late night home.

Once the carpark's full or the last service has gone.

The group of five with bags.

A maxi to suit, not a packed peak carriage.

The Cabcharge trip.

A local business needs it door to door, Cabcharge accepted on a fixed fare.

That’s the gap ME CABS fills — the answer for everything a quiet little station can’t carry.

Suburbs we serve

Our anchor in this leafy pocket of the outer east.

The same fixed-fare service runs across the immediate neighbourhood and the wider City of Maroondah.

We track your flight
Melbourne Airport — both ways

Up EastLink to Tullamarine, and back.

Heathmont → the airport

Roughly 48 km, about 40–45 minutes off-peak via EastLink (M3) to Tullamarine. We watch your flight, build in a buffer, and have you kerbside in good time. Your fixed fare is set before you book — no early-morning surge.

The airport → Heathmont

Land, clear the gate, and your booked driver is already arranged. We track the flight, so a delay doesn’t cost you the car. Ride home for the price you were quoted — no scramble at the rank.

Also served: Avalon (AVV) transfers on the same fixed-fare basis.

Cabcharge accepted

A professionals’ suburb. We keep the payment simple.

Heathmont skews professional — nearly a third of working residents are professionals, many commuting or flying for work. ME CABS keeps the payment simple: Cabcharge is accepted on every trip, alongside card and cash, with a fixed fare shown before you book, no card fee on Cabcharge, and an itemised receipt after the trip.

Maroondah Hospital & medical

A short, next-door run — about 3 km.

Maroondah Hospital is in neighbouring Ringwood East at 1–15 Davey Drive — about 3 km from the Heathmont strip, one of the shortest, most familiar runs we do. For appointments, day procedures, discharge pickups and visiting family, a booked, fixed-fare car removes the two hardest parts: timing and uncertainty.

  • Book ahead for an appointment time — the car is there, not hoped for.
  • Discharge pickup when you're ready, door to door, no platform or stairs.
  • Wheelchair-accessible and mobility-friendly vehicles on request.
  • Quiet, clean hybrids — easier on anyone who isn't feeling well.

The mountain’s in your backyard

The Dandenong Ranges & beyond.

You can see Mount Dandenong from the Heathmont shops, and the Belgrave line climbs straight up toward it. ME CABS does the longer runs on a fixed fare agreed before you leave — a day in the Ranges (Sassafras, Olinda, the gardens, Puffing Billy), a winery trip out to the Yarra Valley, an interstate connection, or a regional medical appointment. We just make getting there effortless.

Fleet note

About 9 in 10 ME CABS cars are hybrid or electric — primarily Tesla and Lexus hybrids — plus wheelchair-accessible and mobility vehicles on request.

A cleaner ride

A number, not a slogan.

Heathmont is as green as Maroondah gets — orchard heritage, leafy streets, the FJC Rogers reserve and the rail trail, the bushland rising toward Mount Dandenong. About 90% of our fleet is hybrid and electric, so the standard ride is simply the cleaner, quieter one. Run your trip and see the real estimated emissions versus an older cab.
