The fare is agreed before you travel.
Suburbs we cover in the City of Melbourne.
About 37.7 km² and 149,615 residents at the 2021 census — and several times that many people on a weekday. Most of them don’t live here: hotel guests, commuters, patients and delegates who need to get somewhere.

Melbourne has no train to its airport, and no date for one.
As at September 2026, Melbourne Airport Rail has no confirmed completion date. From the city, the realistic options are a bus or a car. We have a fixed fare and your flight number.

What we do with it
- Door to door from any City of Melbourne address — kerb at your building, not a bus stop with your bags.
- Fixed fare agreed before you travel. No meter, no surge, no “it depends on traffic”.
- Flight tracked, so a delayed arrival does not become a missed pickup.
- Avalon covered as well — a longer run where a known fare matters more, not less.
- Pickup time set from your terminal and your flight, with CBD exit conditions built in.

SkyBus, honestly
SkyBus runs from Southern Cross and it is cheaper than a car. It stops working with luggage for more than one person, a group, a child seat, a 4am departure, a mobility need, a hotel that isn’t a short walk from the terminus — or arriving at midnight and wanting a door rather than a footpath. That’s the trip we do.
Free Tram Zone · CBD & DocklandsInside the city the tram is free — and often faster.
Trams inside the CBD and Docklands are free, and for a short hop between two city streets they usually beat a car. Since 30 November 2025 the Metro Tunnel has added Town Hall and State Library in the CBD, Parkville, Anzac on St Kilda Road and Arden in North Melbourne.
Where a car wins:
- Luggage
- A group
- Before 6am or after midnight
- Rain
- A mobility need
- A medical appointment
- A trip that leaves the free zone
- A venue 15 minutes' walk from the nearest stop
- Arriving at a specific minute
MPTP acceptedParkville has a station now. It still isn’t transport for day surgery.
The Parkville precinct sits inside this council — Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Women's Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and WEHI, alongside the University of Melbourne, all on and around Grattan Street and Royal Parade. Parkville station opened on 30 November 2025. A train is not transport for someone leaving day surgery, coming out of chemotherapy, carrying a mobility aid or booked in at 6:30am. That is the trip we do.
- We also run to the Royal Children's, St Vincent's, the Alfred and the Eastern Health hospitals from inner-city addresses.
- MPTP accepted — members receive 50% off the total fare, up to a $60 subsidy per trip.
- Return booked before you go in, so the trip home is already arranged.

Collins Street, Docklands, Southbank — business travel, paid by Cabcharge.
- Cabcharge accepted on every booking.
- Client transport, staff airport runs, and late-night travel for people working past the timetable.
- Conference and delegate transport for MCEC and South Wharf events.
- Flex, Plus and Group vehicles, so the car matches the occasion — a client pickup and a staff airport run are not the same brief.
Up to 10 passengersOne vehicle, one fare, one pickup point.
Group vehicles for arriving parties, functions, weddings, conference groups and event nights — up to 10 passengers and their luggage. In the CBD that matters more than anywhere: a group splitting across three cars in a clearway is how people get separated and charged twice.
The city is where most day trips start.
One car, one driver, one fixed fare, no coach timetable.
Booked in advanceThe front door often isn’t the access point.
- Wheelchair accessible vehicles, booked in advance.
- MPTP — 50% off the total fare, up to a $60 subsidy per trip.
- Many CBD and Southbank buildings have no kerb space at the front door; the usable access point is a side street, a loading bay or a basement entrance. We agree that point when you book, rather than circling the block.
In the CBD the problem isn’t finding a car. It’s stopping one.
Everywhere else in Melbourne, the question is whether a car will come. In the City of Melbourne it will. The real problem is that most of the kerb is unusable — and nobody publishes that.

Clearways
Every clearway on a major road within 20 km of the CBD is a tow-away zone. During clearway hours a car cannot wait for you on those roads at all — so we agree a side street instead.
Tram superstops
A car cannot stop at one, and on several city streets the superstop occupies most of the usable kerb.
Swanston Street
Has no general vehicle access.
One-way little streets
Little Collins, Little Bourke, Flinders Lane and Little Lonsdale are often the right pickup point — and getting the direction wrong adds a full block loop.
Bike lanes and loading zones
Take up much of what is left.
Hotel forecourts
Fill at checkout. The driveway may be the wrong answer at 10am and the right one at 5am.
What we commit to
When you book, we agree the pickup point with you — the street, the side of the street, and the door. For a CBD or Docklands tower, give us the building name and we’ll tell you where to stand.
Fifty thousand people leaving at once doesn’t change your fare.
Event nights are when rideshare pricing moves. A booked ME CABS fare does not.

A fare you knew before the trip — in a city you may not know.
Why trust us
- Fixed fare agreed before you travel — the fare you see is the fare you pay.
- We agree the pickup point with you, so you are not guessing where to stand in a city you may not know.
- Cabcharge accepted; MPTP recognised; wheelchair accessible vehicles booked in advance.
- Flex, Plus, Group and Wheelchair Accessible vehicles, so the vehicle matches the trip.
Why not rideshare
- Pricing moves on exactly the nights the city is full — event nights, New Year, major finals, bad weather.
- No fixed fare in advance, no MPTP, no accessible vehicle held for a booking.
- A driver who may be as new to the little streets as you are.
Why not another taxi company
- Our price is agreed in advance on a booked trip, not discovered on arrival.
- We quote the whole job — city to airport, city to the Grampians — not a meter and a hope.
- One operator across the airport run, the hospital appointment and the day trip.
Why book ahead
- Early airport departures and accessible vehicles are allocated to bookings first.
- On an event night the city's spare capacity is gone before the event starts.
- A booked fare is fixed. A fare quoted at the kerb on a Friday night is not.
