Named after its golf course — not the reverse.
Few suburbs get their name the way Huntingdale did. The Huntingdale Golf Club opened here in 1941, on the famous Melbourne sandbelt — and it became so well known that when the old East Oakleigh area was formally named in 1955, it took the club’s name. The suburb is named after the golf course, not the other way around: a rare, charming, verifiable local quirk.
A small, multicultural village
Barely 2 km² and around 1,900 residents, Huntingdale is framed by Australia’s largest university on one side and one of its most famous golf courses on the other. Small, well-connected — and ME CABS covers everything the beloved train and the 601 can’t.

The gateway to Monash. We do what the 601 can’t.
Huntingdale doesn’t just have a station — it’s a gateway. Its station feeds the 601 shuttle to Monash University, the busiest bus route in Victoria: buses roughly every four minutes in semester, carrying tens of thousands of student trips a week the short hop to Australia’s largest university. We’d never argue with that. We’re for the trips the train and the 601 were never going to do.

Huntingdale → MEL
A parent flying in for graduation, or a semester’s luggage — flight tracked, fixed fare set before you book.
The run the 601 was never built for.
Roughly 35 km and about 40 minutes off-peak via the Monash Freeway and CityLink to Tullamarine — a straightforward run from this side of Monash, with the freeway on-ramp close by. We watch your flight, build in a buffer, and set your fixed fare before you book — no early-morning surge. Ideal for parents and students arriving for semester. Avalon (AVV) too.

Golf, Monash & the village in between.
Home of the Australian Masters
Huntingdale Golf Club is one of the most recognisable courses in the country — the long-time Home of the Australian Masters, where Nicklaus, Norman, Faldo and Tiger Woods all played. It gave the suburb its name. ME CABS handles the golf-day run and the club-function trip the easy way: a fixed fare there and back, a clean car, no parking and no designated-driver worry after a long lunch.
The gateway to Monash
Huntingdale is the closest station to Monash University’s Clayton campus, Australia’s largest. The 601 does the daily campus hop — but it was never built for the airport run with a semester’s luggage, the parent flying in for graduation, move-in weekend, or the late trip home. That’s ME CABS: a booked, fixed-fare car for students and families, door to terminal and back.
The village in between
Between the two giants sits a small, friendly, multicultural strip along Huntingdale Road — the mosque, the temple kitchen, the halal grocers and cafés. It’s the kind of place you walk to for a coffee, and the kind of suburb where a fixed-fare car quietly handles the trips that start or end here.
Two major hospitals, either side of the suburb.
Monash Medical Centre and the Victorian Heart Hospital in Clayton are a short run east — right by the Monash campus — with Cabrini in Malvern a short run west. For appointments, day procedures, discharge pickups and visiting family, a booked, fixed-fare car removes the two hardest parts — timing and uncertainty.
ME CABS provides non-emergency patient and visitor transport — for emergencies always call 000.
Appointments & day surgery
On time, dropped at the right entrance.
Discharge
A reliable ride home when you can't drive after a procedure.
Visiting family
In and home again without the parking, the stairs or the bus.
Accessible vehicles
On request, for those who need them.
The reliable family car — and the local account.
Huntingdale is a compact, mixed suburb, so the everyday work is practical: the reliable family car for the airport, appointments, the school run and a night out. And the payment stays simple — Cabcharge is accepted on every trip, alongside card and cash, with a fixed fare shown before you book, no card fee on Cabcharge, and accessible vehicles on request. Handy for the Huntingdale Road traders, the light-industrial businesses in the south, and university-related travel: visiting academics, parents and staff.

| When you want… | ME CABS | Rideshare app | Hail / rank taxi |
|---|---|---|---|
| A price you can trust | Fixed, shown before booking | Surges without warning | Metered — unknown till arrival |
| A car that turns up at 4am | Booked & assigned ahead | Depends who's online | Pot luck at the rank |
| Cabcharge accepted | Yes | No | Sometimes |
| A clean hybrid / EV | ~90% of the fleet | Whatever arrives | Whatever arrives |
| Maxi / group & mobility | Booked to suit | Limited | Limited |
The contrast is booked-driver certainty: a confirmed driver at a price locked before you travel, the runs others decline, Cabcharge handled properly — and a booking you can actually see and change afterwards.
A tiny suburb, a gateway’s reach.
Huntingdale is our small, central anchor in this corner of Monash, and we run the same fixed-fare service across the surrounding suburbs. It sits in the City of Monash — see the hub and the sibling suburb pages as they roll out.

Our fleet — about 9 in 10 hybrid & electric
Primarily Tesla and Lexus hybrids — cleaner, quieter and more comfortable than an older cab — plus wheelchair-accessible and mobility vehicles on request. A greener ride that doesn’t cost you certainty.
Green as the sandbelt.
There’s a quiet green to this corner of Melbourne — the heathland fairways of the sandbelt, the tree-lined streets, and the Scotchmans Creek trail threading through the neighbouring suburbs. Our fleet fits that: about 90% hybrid and electric, so the standard ride is simply the cleaner, quieter one. No badge, no lecture — just the default.
A number, not a slogan — run your trip and see the real estimated emissions for a hybrid versus an older cab.

View, change or cancel — three ways to stay in control of your trip.
You can take the train and the 601 to campus, but not to the airport at dawn with two suitcases, or home from a late shift, or to the hospital with someone who can’t manage the bus. For those trips, there’s a particular calm in knowing the car is already booked. It’s booked. It’s a fixed price. It’s a clean, quiet car.
