How fixed fares work

The fare you see is the fare you pay.

It removes the single biggest taxi anxiety — not knowing the cost. Here’s how it works, every trip.

1

You see it first

Enter pickup and drop-off. Your price is set and shown before you book — tolls and GST included.

2

It doesn't move

No surge at 5pm. No meter creep on the Monash Freeway or Dandenong Road. The fare you see is the fare you pay — agreed before you book.

3

You're matched, not gambled

A real driver is assigned to your trip — not auto-dispatched and hoped for.

The Monash transport gap

Good rail in parts — and glaring gaps where it matters most.

The Glen Waverley and Pakenham/Cranbourne lines serve much of Monash. But the places that generate the most trips aren’t on a platform — that’s where ME CABS lives.

Why Monash

One of Australia’s great names — and a powerhouse of the south-east.

The City of Monash carries the name of Sir John Monash, the WWI commander and engineer the university is named for. Formed in 1994 from the old Oakleigh and Waverley councils, it’s now one of Victoria’s most populous municipalities — around 210,000 people across 16 suburbs, and one of the most diverse communities in the country.

Monash University’s Clayton campus, Monash Medical Centre and the Victorian Heart Hospital, the Monash Technology Precinct and Chadstone — the largest shopping centre in the country. ME CABS is the calm, fixed-fare way to move across all of it.

We track your flight

Land early or late, your driver already knows. No surge on a delayed flight.

Melbourne Airport — both directions

Monash to Tullamarine, the price set before you book.

From most of Monash it’s roughly 40–45 km and 40–45 minutes off-peak via the Monash Freeway and CityLink. We watch your flight, build in a buffer, and have you kerbside in good time — a big deal for the area’s many international students and travelling families. Avalon (AVV) too, on the same fixed-fare basis.

Early-morning & late-night pickups

Help with bags, door to door

The signature destinations

Monash University & Chadstone — our two biggest runs.

Monash University — the campus with no station

The Clayton campus is Victoria’s largest — around 80,000 students, and no train station of its own until the Suburban Rail Loop arrives in 2035. That makes ME CABS the natural choice for the trips the campus bus loop can’t do: the 4am airport run at semester’s end, the international student landing with a year’s luggage, parents visiting from interstate or overseas, move-in and move-out day, and the safe late ride home after a night in the city.

Airport runsMove-in dayLate-night homeParent pickups

Chadstone & the centres

Chadstone — “The Fashion Capital” — is the biggest shopping centre in the country, and a destination people come to from everywhere. ME CABS does the run with the arms full of bags and no circling for a park, plus The Glen at Glen Waverley, the famous Greek food strip at Oakleigh, and Brandon Park. A fixed fare there and back, door to entrance.

ChadstoneThe GlenOakleighBrandon Park
Monash Medical Centre & health

The trip ME CABS does best.

Monash Medical Centre in Clayton is one of Victoria’s major hospitals, now joined by the new Victorian Heart Hospital and Jessie McPherson Private — a health precinct people travel to from right across the south-east. Getting to and from hospital takes out the two hardest parts: timing and uncertainty.

ME CABS provides non-emergency patient and visitor transport — for emergencies always call 000.

Appointments & day surgery

Arrive on time, dropped at the right entrance.

Discharge

A reliable ride home when you can't drive after a procedure.

Visiting family

In and home again without parking fees or a long walk.

Accessible vehicles

On request, for those who need them.

Cabcharge & the tech precinct

The largest employment hub outside the CBD sits inside Monash.

The Monash Technology Precinct packs in CSIRO, the Australian Synchrotron, the Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication, the Moderna manufacturing site and the business parks of Mulgrave, Notting Hill and Clayton, alongside Chadstone’s office towers. ME CABS is built for it: airport runs and client and staff movements booked ahead, with Cabcharge accepted on every trip, alongside card and cash, on a fixed fare shown before you book.

Suburbs we serve

The whole City of Monash, door to door.

We run the same fixed-fare service across every suburb — including Mulgrave, Wheelers Hill and Notting Hill, where a booked car beats waiting for a bus. Each suburb will get its own dedicated page, starting with the biggest demand centres.

Vehicles & fleet

The booking is capacity-based — choose by how many people and bags you have, and we’ll match the car to the trip.

Flex

The everyday Monash ride

Sedan for 1–4 — airport, campus, the hospital, appointments. The reliable default.

Plus

Group

Student groups, families, group airport runs and a Chadstone day out.

Accessible

Mobility needs

Wheelchair-accessible and mobility vehicles available on request, subject to availability.

Our fleet — about 9 in 10 hybrid & electric

Primarily Tesla and Lexus hybrids — cleaner, quieter and more comfortable than an older cab — plus wheelchair-accessible and mobility vehicles on request. A greener ride that doesn’t cost you certainty.

A cleaner ride

Greener than its freeways suggest.

Monash is greener than its freeways suggest — Jells Park, the Scotchmans Creek and Gardiners Creek trails, Valley Reserve and a string of golf courses. Our fleet fits that: about 90% hybrid and electric, so the standard ride is simply the cleaner, quieter one. No badge, no lecture — just the default.

A number, not a slogan — run your trip and see the real estimated emissions for a hybrid versus an older cab.

Monash FAQ

Monash taxi & transfer questions, answered.

Can’t find what you’re looking for? Call the Melbourne dispatch on 1300 012 018.

Can ME CABS take me to Monash University?

Yes — it's one of our busiest runs, because the Clayton campus has no train station. We do airport transfers for students and staff, parent pickups, move-in days and safe late rides home, door to campus, on a fixed fare. Book online, by phone on 1300 012 018, or on WhatsApp.

How much is a taxi from Monash to Melbourne Airport?

ME CABS quotes a fixed fare before you book — tolls and GST included, no surge. From most of Monash it's roughly 40–45 km and 40–45 minutes off-peak via the Monash Freeway and CityLink. Enter your pickup and drop-off and the exact fixed fare appears before you confirm.

Does ME CABS go to Monash Medical Centre?

Yes — to Monash Medical Centre and the Victorian Heart Hospital in Clayton, for appointments, day surgery, discharge and visiting. Book ahead; accessible vehicles on request. This is non-emergency patient and visitor transport — for emergencies always call 000.

Can ME CABS take me to Chadstone?

Yes — door to entrance and back, with all the bags and no circling for a park. We also run The Glen at Glen Waverley, Oakleigh's Greek strip and Brandon Park. Cabcharge accepted, alongside card and cash.

Is ME CABS a green taxi service?

About nine in ten ME CABS trips run in a hybrid or electric car, including Tesla and Lexus hybrids — cleaner and quieter than an older cab. Your fixed-fare quote also shows the estimated CO₂ for your trip.

Why use ME CABS instead of the train in Monash?

The Glen Waverley and Pakenham/Cranbourne lines are great where they run — but Monash University, Mulgrave and Wheelers Hill aren't on them, and the Suburban Rail Loop is years away (2035). ME CABS covers the gaps: door-to-door airport runs, the campus, the hospital, Chadstone, and late nights, with Cabcharge accepted.
