Burwood’s ride, already sorted.Burwood taxis to Melbourne Airport.
The tram’s great for the commute — but not at 4am with two suitcases. A booked driver, a fixed fare you see before you pay, and a clean hybrid at your door is the easy way to Tullamarine, Deakin, the Medical Centre, or the city. No surge, no tram-then-bus-then-train marathon, no app roulette.
Your exact fixed fare, in under a minute.
Enter pickup and drop-off and your exact fixed fare appears before you confirm — locked, the fare you see is the fare you pay. No meter, no surge, no traffic surcharge.

The tram runs through it, the airport doesn’t.
Burwood started as a market-garden village called Ballyshanassy, surveyed in 1858 and renamed Burwood in 1879 after a grand old house. But the modern suburb is defined by one thing: Deakin University’s Melbourne Burwood Campus — the university’s largest and busiest, with around 32,000 students strung along Burwood Highway, plus the schools, shops and leafy streets around it.
It’s also a suburb of surprising Australian firsts: the country’s first drive-in cinema opened here on Burwood Highway in 1954, and the first Kmart in Australia opened at Burwood in 1969. Add Wattle Park, the route 75 tram down the highway, and a diverse, education-focused community. One thing it doesn’t have is a train station of its own — which is exactly where ME CABS comes in, on a fixed fare.

Great tram. No station. We fill the gap.
Burwood has one of Melbourne’s better tram runs: route 75 travels the full length of Burwood Highway, from the city out to Vermont South, stopping right outside Deakin. For the daily commute and a trip into town, it’s genuinely good. What Burwood doesn’t have is a railway station in the suburb — and the new Suburban Rail Loop “Burwood” station being built at Deakin is still years off. So getting to the airport by public transport means a tram, then a bus or train, then another change — well over an hour and a half with your bags.

Burwood → MEL
Students and staff met at the terminal and driven to the door — flight tracked, a delay won’t cost you the car.
With no station, the car is the obvious way.
Roughly 38 km and about 36–40 minutes off-peak via the Monash Freeway and CityLink to Tullamarine. With no train and a 1½-hour public-transport slog the alternative, a booked car is the obvious way — we watch your flight, build in a buffer, and set your fixed fare before you book, with no early-morning surge. Ideal for students and staff arriving for Deakin. Avalon (AVV) too.

Deakin’s biggest campus
Deakin University’s Melbourne Burwood Campus is the university’s largest — around 32,000 students, thousands of staff, and a steady stream of visiting academics, conference guests and international students. That’s a huge, reliable travel base: airport runs, city trips, events and group moves — with the Suburban Rail Loop station being built right at the campus for the future.
Wattle Park & the firsts
Beyond the campus, Wattle Park — 41 hectares of gum trees, wildlife and a public golf course — is Burwood’s green landmark, threaded by the Gardiners Creek trail. And there’s the history: Australia’s first drive-in cinema (1954) and first Kmart (1969) both opened here. A busy suburb with a surprising story.
All easy, fixed-fare trips
A day at Wattle Park, a Deakin open day, a group to a campus event, or the airport run home — every one a booked, door-to-door trip on a fare set before you go.
Between Box Hill and the Clayton precinct.
Burwood sits between several major hospitals — Box Hill Hospital to the north, Monash Medical Centre and the Victorian Heart Hospital in Clayton to the south, and Cabrini in Malvern to the west. For appointments, day procedures, discharge pickups and visiting family, a booked, fixed-fare car removes the two hardest parts — timing and uncertainty — and with no station in the suburb, it’s often the only comfortable way.
ME CABS provides non-emergency patient and visitor transport — for emergencies always call 000.
Appointments & day surgery
On time, dropped at the right entrance.
Discharge
A reliable ride home when you can't drive after a procedure.
Visiting family
In and home again without the parking and the long walk.
Accessible vehicles
On request, for those who need them.
A campus that’s always on the move.
A campus the size of Deakin’s generates constant travel: visiting academics and conference speakers to collect from the airport, international students arriving and departing, and events that need groups moved. For the campus and the businesses along Burwood Highway, ME CABS keeps it simple: Cabcharge accepted on every trip, alongside card and cash, with a fixed fare shown before you book, no card fee on Cabcharge, and an itemised receipt after the trip.
Student & staff airport runs

The tram is genuinely good for the commute — so the honest contrast is door-to-door and luggage, not price. Booked-driver certainty: a confirmed driver at a price locked before you travel, Cabcharge handled properly, and a booking you can see and change afterwards.
The university anchor of the north edge.
Burwood is a busy anchor on the northern edge of Monash, and we run the same fixed-fare service across the surrounding suburbs. It sits partly in the City of Monash — see the hub and the sibling suburb pages.

Our fleet — about 9 in 10 hybrid & electric
Primarily Tesla and Lexus hybrids — cleaner, quieter and more comfortable than an older cab — plus wheelchair-accessible and mobility vehicles on request. A greener ride that doesn’t cost you certainty.
Greener than it looks.
Burwood is greener than it looks — Wattle Park’s bushland, the Gardiners Creek trail, and a university that builds to sustainable-design principles. Our fleet fits right in: about 90% hybrid and electric, so the standard ride is simply the cleaner, quieter one. No badge, no lecture — just the default, which happens to suit a campus travel policy nicely.
A number, not a slogan — run your trip and see the real estimated emissions for a hybrid versus an older cab.

View, change or cancel — three ways to stay in control of your trip.
The tram will get you to the city, but not to the terminal at dawn with a suitcase, or to the hospital with someone who can’t manage the walk, or the family landing at Tullamarine who need a lift home. For those trips, there’s a particular calm in knowing the car is already booked. It’s booked. It’s a fixed price. It’s a clean, quiet car.
