Why Scoresby

The best name story of any suburb out here.

Scoresby was surveyed in 1857 and named after William Scoresby — an Arctic explorer and authority on terrestrial magnetism who came to Victoria in 1856 to run magnetic experiments near this very spot. From there it became market-garden country — famously the “Brussels sprout capital of Victoria” in the 1950s — and the place where George Knox, the man the City of Knox is named for, settled as an orchardist before entering Parliament.

Today it’s a green, established, family suburb of around 6,000 — nearly a quarter parkland — with a quiet village strip, one of the world’s oldest cricket clubs (founded 1879), and the busy Caribbean Park precinct on its edge. ME CABS is the calm, fixed-fare way to move through all of it.

“An Arctic explorer, a sprout capital and a 19th-century cricket club — no other suburb out here has an origin like it.”

No station — built for the car

No train here, and Scoresby never expected one. It was built around the road.

What Scoresby has is roads — EastLink runs straight through it, with Stud Road and Ferntree Gully Road on either side. Locals tell you the same thing: with a car, everything’s only a few minutes away. So a booked car isn’t a workaround here — it’s simply how a road-built suburb moves.

The early flight.

Door to terminal up EastLink — no bus-and-train relay before dawn.

The office run.

A client or colleague to or from a Caribbean Park office, on a fixed fare.

The market drop-off.

Dropped at the Caribbean Gardens gate on a busy day, picked up when you're done.

The hospital trip.

To Knox Private or Angliss with someone who can't manage a bus.

The late night home.

After the buses stop — the group of five, straight to the door.

The Cabcharge trip.

Cabcharge accepted, door to door, on a fixed fare.

That’s the job ME CABS does here — not a substitute for a train that was never coming, the way a road-built suburb actually gets around.

Melbourne Airport — both ways

The run that matters most — no station to bus to.

Scoresby → the airport

Roughly 49 km, about 45 minutes off-peak via EastLink and CityLink to Tullamarine — EastLink runs right through Scoresby. With no station to bus to, this is the run that matters most: door to terminal, flight watched, buffer built in, fixed fare set before you book. No pre-dawn surge.

The airport → Scoresby

Land, clear the gate, and your booked driver is already arranged. We track the flight, so a delay doesn’t cost you the car. Ride home for the price you were quoted — no scramble at the rank.

Also served: Avalon (AVV) transfers on the same fixed-fare basis.

Cabcharge & Caribbean Park

A leafy address with a serious business base.

Behind the quiet streets, Scoresby is a real employment precinct. Its industrial estates and the Caribbean Park office hub are home to major national and international companies — Nintendo’s Australian headquarters among them — plus a hotel and conference space. ME CABS runs it: airport transfers and office runs for the people who work there, booked ahead on a fixed fare, with Cabcharge accepted alongside card and cash and no card fee on Cabcharge.

What we run for Caribbean Park

  • Cabcharge accepted, alongside card and cash
  • An itemised receipt after every trip
  • A fixed fare shown before you book
  • Airport runs for the people who work there
  • Premium (Plus) vehicles on request
Hospital & medical

Hospitals north and south — all a short run.

Scoresby is well placed: Knox Private (Wantirna) and Angliss (Upper Ferntree Gully) to the north, and Dandenong Hospital and Monash Medical Centre (Clayton) a short run to the south. For appointments, day procedures, discharge pickups and visiting family, a booked, fixed-fare car removes the two hardest parts: timing and uncertainty.

  • Book ahead for an appointment time — the car is there, not hoped for.
  • Discharge pickup when you're ready, door to door, no platform or stairs.
  • Wheelchair-accessible and mobility-friendly vehicles on request.
  • Quiet, clean hybrids — easier on anyone who isn't feeling well.
The signature trip

Caribbean Park — a workplace by day, a market on weekends.

Scoresby’s landmark started with a lake — Lake Caribbean, first dug by a local boat-builder to test his boats — and grew into two things at once. ME CABS does both sides.

Work — the office run

Caribbean Park offices

  • Office runs to Caribbean Park and the conference hotel
  • Client and staff airport runs, booked ahead on a fixed fare
  • Airport transfers for travelling teams — Nintendo Australia & neighbours
  • Cabcharge accepted, alongside card and cash

  • Dropped right at the Caribbean Gardens gate — no circling the car park
  • Picked up when you're done, fixed price both ways
  • A maxi for the whole family or a group day out
  • Lake Caribbean, the markets and the fun, sorted
Green Scoresby

Nearly a quarter of Scoresby is parkland. We do the day trips and the team runs on a fixed fare — and when you want the hills, the Dandenong Ranges are a short drive east through Ferntree Gully.

A cleaner ride

A number, not a slogan.

Scoresby is greener than its business address suggests — nearly a quarter parkland, with Lake Caribbean, the Dandenong Creek wetlands and trail, and Jells Park next door. Our fleet fits right in: about 90% hybrid and electric, so the standard ride is simply the cleaner, quieter one. No badge, no lecture — just the default. Run your trip and see the real estimated emissions versus an older cab.
